Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Never be ashamed of that sentence. Definitely the “for the Bible tells me so part.” I sing this to my children every night, because I want them to always know that Jesus loves them.
There are two parts here that deserve a brief thought.
Jesus loves me. This is the most astonishing thing in the world, that Jesus would love me, a wretched sinner. Even amid our filth, even while we disobey Him as Lord, He still loves us. It is His love that keeps us going; it is His love that calms our hearts and assures us. What a friend we have in Jesus!
For the Bible tells me so. Don’t be ashamed of believing what the Bible says. Your mentality should be: “If the Bible said it, I believe it.” Simple. End of story. That’s not because we believe the Bible with blind faith, but because we believe in the character and nature of God.
Christian, cherish this truth: Jesus loves you. When you’re failing, He loves you. When you’re succeeding, He loves you. When you can’t get it together or when everything goes your way, He loves you. Never forget that.
