Schedule Change to My Blog

Friends, thank you all for your support. I truly hope my blogs and devotionals encourage and build you up in the Lord.

For what feels like forever now — I think it’s been a couple months — I have written a short devotionals six days a week, in addition to one normal blog post each week. I made that change because I wanted to provide daily, consistent, biblical content for you, the reader.

But I’m learning quickly that just isn’t going to last. So I’m going to cease the devotional for the time being.

As you may have noticed, I have used excerpts from my book, Taking No for an Answer, as devotionals. I eve did it for my first book, Gospel Smugness. I did that at first as a way to promote the book (and to hopefully have some purchase it), but it quickly turned into a last resort when I forgot to write a devotional. All I had to do was remove any dashes and it was ready. I hope it still served you, but I was lagging behind.

Additionally, I began to think my writing wasn’t quality. Most of the devotionals you’ve read were written the night before they were published. That’s just because I have a day job and a family. My writing time is mostly in the evenings/nights. I felt the quality of the devotionals were lacking and I didn’t want to do that to you.

So here’s what my plan is now. Lord willing, I will write two normal blog posts each week. I’m not sure on the exact day each week, but the goal will be twice. And the plan will be for these blogs to be at least 600 words. I want to give you substance, not my last second thoughts of the day before I drift off into sleep.

Please pray for me. I have found myself writing and hopefully serving you, the reader, but feeling somewhat stagnant in my own relationship with the Lord. In general, it’s very easy to do things in God’s name, but forget to commune with God personally and apply those things to your own life.

First of all, I completely understand, but I hope you do know that the things you wrote, even if you felt they were rushed, were still a blessing to my husband and I and I’m sure to many others. Thank you so much!

Father in heaven, please encourage and bless Blake and his family. Thank you for their dedication to serving Your kingdom. Please Lord give Blake the time, the mindset and the ability to continue to write these words of love and encouragement and hope to a world that needs to hear this so desperately. Please give him discernment and wisdom to continue to deliver truth filled posts. In Jesus name we pray.
