“waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,” (Titus 2:13)
The Christian life is a life of waiting, of counting time, of patience. As we walk—and sometimes limp—through our walk with the Lord, we also “wait for our blessed hope.” What is that blessed hope?
None other than the second coming of Jesus Christ, who will appear in glory. But for now, we must wait with anticipation, with eagerness, with hope. And this is not a hope in the sense of “hoping” something will or will not happen. No; our hope is certain because Jesus is faithful to His promises. We know that Jesus will return for His blameless bride. We know that Jesus will return to throw His enemies into the lake of fire. We know Jesus will return to reign on earth and bring forth the everlasting kingdom.
It’s just not here yet. It’s simply not time. Jesus will come back, and in the meantime, His church waits with an eager longing to see Him, to be with Him.
Believer, we are all home sick. We long for glory. We hope and ponder the reality of infinite life with our Lord Jesus Christ and worshipping God forever. It’s too good not to be true, because God is not a liar.
Christians, while we wait, let us serve God with boldness, worship God in spirit and truth, and trust God with our life.
