“Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.’” (John 6:35 ESV)
Shall not hunger; shall never thirst. These are amazing words spoken by Jesus. The world looks everywhere for satisfaction—sex, popularity, money, you name it—but it ultimately never brings contending. It never satisfies. Why?
Because only Jesus brings ultimate, final satisfaction. And this satisfaction stems from our salvation in Him. In other words, if you’re not a believer, you’ll keep searching for satisfaction until you find it in Him.
Jesus bids us to come to Him. Drink from my foundation and you’ll never thirst again; eat my bread and you’ll never hunger. Jesus is inviting us to come experience full, abiding satisfaction in Him. We experience that by dropping our act, by forsaking our flesh, by humbling ourselves in the front of the cross. It’s all of grace.
Friend, begin your day remembering this truth: as a child of God, you have the ability, through union with Christ, to be completely satisfied and content no matter what may come.
