#WorshipWednesday – Is He Worthy?

I’m going to start a new thing on my blog called #WorshipWednesday. Every Wednesday, I will post some type of material that pertains to worship. It won’t necessarily always be a worship song. As we know, we don’t worship God only through song.

So, to start it off, I am linking Andrew Peterson’s song “Is He Worthy?”:

Not only is the song beautiful, but the video is as well. Throughout the song, Peterson asks rhetorical questions about creation, renewal, Jesus, etc. You can see that he is moving through the redemptive story.

For example, the first question of the second verse is, “Is all creation groaning?” which is answered by a choir with a tranquil, “It is.” Peterson follows up that question with, “Is a new creation coming?” which leads the choir to softly answer, “It is” again.

Peterson bases the song on Revelation 5:9, which says,

“And they sand a new song, saying, ‘Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.'”

I will leave you with this from Dr. Al Mohler on worship:

“Nothing is more important than our understanding of worship, for our concept of worship is inescapably tied to our understanding of God and His sovereign authority to reveal the worship He desires, deserves, and demand.”
