“But to be a Christian is to go against the grain. We live each day called by God to make glorifying Him the top priority, not glorifying self or the culture. Above all else, we must please the Lord. It’s imperative for us to live counter-cultural lives, out of step with society.”
“We won’t always understand God’s will. In fact, I think more often than not we won’t understand it. God’s ways are much bigger and higher than our own. But the beautiful thing is that we don’t have to understand. We don’t need to understand because we know who God is. He is trustworthy, reliable, faithful; He is rich in mercy, our comforter, our friend, our Savior.”
“Have you pondered this, friend? Have you given thought to the fact that your salvation is none other than God giving Himself to you? When God saves us, He gives us Himself and invites us into the eternal, communal love of the Godhead. There is literally nothing better than that.”
“The Christian faith hinges on the person and work of Jesus Christ. If someone says they love Jesus and His teachings but rejects His claims of divinity, sinless life, His substitutionary death, victorious resurrection, and high priestly work, then that person, by definition, is not a Christian. You cannot have your cake and eat it, too. Or: that love for Jesus doesn’t make any sense.”
The Utter Dependence of Prayer
“Our prayers admit that we have limitations and are insufficient for the task. We need help; we can’t do it ourselves. If left to ourselves, we’d go insane. It’s when we neglect to pray that things go haywire, that life spins out of control and so does our wherewithal. We forget God; we act as if we don’t need His help. Oh, but we certainly do.”
“Christian, don’t be afraid to call out heresy when you see it. Be discerning, ask for wisdom from God to help you see things that are concerning. Certainly don’t be a heresy-hunter, but always be on watch for heretical things that may come to you. The gospel is at stake.”
