Have you ever wondered how Calvinism—TULIP, or the doctrines of grace—impact you on a daily basis? You certainly understand what each letter means—even the “L”!—but you struggle with understanding the application. You find yourself wondering, “How does total depravity, for example, affect how I live as a Christian?”
Well, I am writing a book that I hope perhaps will help.
For about a year now I’ve wanted to write a devotional. What type of devotional and formatting remained to be seen—until 6-7 months ago. But then I finally realized the need.
I am writing a 30-day devotional on how Calvinism affects everyday living for the Christian.
If you’re a Calvinist, this devotional is for you. If you’re someone who believes in the doctrines of grace but labels make you queasy, this devotional is for you. If you’re not a Calvinist but want to better understand the practicalities, this devotional is for you. If you’re antagonistic toward Calvinism, this book likely isn’t for you—but even if you pick it up you’ll see the topics covered will benefit every Christian—just from an angle you might not expect!
Formatted for six days a week of reading, there will be six days devoted to each letter of the acrostic TULIP, totaling 30 days.
My goal with this work is not to help the reader what Calvinism is, but what Calvinism does. There are plenty of books on what Calvinism means. I want to go beyond that—how does Calvinism impact me daily?
More than Calvinism, though, I want the readers’ hearts to be stirred with immense affection for Jesus. Because, of course, Calvinism is not the end, but only the means of knowing and savoring God as all-satisfying (to channel John Piper)!
So, pray for me. Pray for me as I continue to write. I have two sections written, with three more to go. After that comes the editing, the cover work (see below from two drafts), and more editing, then garnering endorsements—all the stuff.
