The Biggest Story Bible Storybook

With two kids under the age of six, I searched and searched for biblical material that would meet three things: 1) faithfulness to Scripture, 2) colorful, and 3) not too long.

And I have found that in The Biggest Story Bible Storybook, written by Kevin DeYoung, illustrated by Don Clark, and published by Crossway.

The Biggest Story Bible Storybook meets my three requirements above.

First, and most important, it’s faithful to the text of Scripture. DeYoung, the author, has proven time and time again that he cares to be faithful to what the Bible says. That’s no different in this work.

Second, it’s beautiful. The moment I opened the book my girls were amazed by the colorful pages, the designs, and everything in between. Their eyes were immediately drawn to the artistry on display through Don Clark and how it gave a visual representation of each Bible story.

Third, it is not too long. Many Bible storybooks I get my hands on are too short—there’s no substance. And some are way too long—there’s no chance my kids will remain quiet and attentive for that amount of time. (And even with this one they started squirming the other night…kids, am I right?) Each story might take up 2-3 pages, but that’s only because of the masterful designs. It takes about 3-5 minutes to read each story. That’s perfect for a 5 year old and 3 year old.

And one of the best parts is the short prayer at the end. As the father and spiritual leader of my home, I want my kids to feel normal when they pray and know why we pray. Each night we pray for what we’re thankful for—that’s good and right. But with this storybook, we can focus on specific prayers, including what we’re thankful for and it gives me something to springboard off.

If you’re searching for something to read with your kids, look no further than this book.

I was given this book for free by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
