20 Statements Scripture is Clear On

There is room for disagreement within the body of Christ. For the church to function biblically, we must have grace for those who don’t have the same views on secondary or tertiary issues. This refers to what is called “theological triage,” popularized by an article by Albert Mohler. Gavin Ortlund, founder of Truth Unites, wrote a whole book on it. I think it’s an important subject.

Bur with so many things that we can agree to disagree on, we must never lose sight of the doctrines Scripture is crystal clear on. Let’s go over 20 statements that the Bible is abundantly clear on.

1. Scripture is clear: unbelievers, of any variation, hate God (Romans 1:30).

2. Scripture is clear: salvation only comes through the blood of Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

3. Scripture is clear: there are only two genders, and God doesn’t make mistakes (Genesis 1:27).

4. Scripture is clear: those who distort the gospel—false teachers—are anathema, damned to Hell if they don’t repent (Galatians 1:9).

5. Scripture is clear: one is not saved by works, but solely—solely—by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

6. Scripture is clear: Jesus has been, is now, and always will be God (John 1:1).

7. Scripture is clear: there is one God who exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19).

8. Scripture is clear: the unborn baby is just that—a baby (Jeremiah 1:5; Psalm 139), which means abortion is murder.

9. Scripture is clear: those whom God saves, He keeps until the end (Philippians 1:6; Roman’s 8:30).

10. Scripture is clear: marriage, divinely instituted by God, is only for males and females; therefore, gay marriage, in the eyes of God, doesn’t exist (Matthew 19:4-6).

11. Scripture is clear: God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe (Genesis 1:1; Hebrews 1:3).

12. Scripture is clear: man’s heart is incredibly wicked before salvation, and has no inherit good within it (Jeremiah 17:9).

13. Scripture is clear: Jesus was, and forever will be, truly God and truly man (John 8:58; John 1:14).

14. Scripture is clear: God does whatever He pleases (Psalm 115:3), and He is good.

15. Scripture is clear: Jesus was sinless on earth, which was crucial to fulfilling His mission of being the substitute for all who’d believe (Hebrews 4:15). If Jesus wasn’t sinless, we’re all headed for Hell.

16: Scripture is clear: God has determined the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10).

17: Scripture is clear: homosexuality—and all its LGBTQ+ variations—is sinful and must be repented of (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). Unrepentant homosexuals, along with unrepentant sinners of all kinds, will not inherit the kingdom of God.

18: Scripture is clear: before salvation, we can do no good in God’s eyes. In fact, our “good deeds” are like polluted garments (Isaiah 64:6).

19: Scripture is clear: the Holy Spirit is not an it, force, or type of inanimate power, but a Person that can be grieved (Ephesians 4:30-32).

20: Scripture is clear: Hell is real, hot, and a place of utter torment and weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:50). Hell is not annihilation.

There you have it. These weren’t in any particular order, but the Bible is abundantly clear on all of these statements. There’s no disputing, no arguing, no dancing around. People must face these facts—and we must hold firmly onto them as truth.
