“And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Galatians 4:6 ESV
God, the Creator and Sustain of the cosmos, is also our Heavenly Father. This is true for Christians only, of course. Unbelievers do not have the unbelievable privilege of being God’s children, for one becomes a child of God through adoption (Romans 8:15). As the world claims we are all children of God, Scripture attests otherwise.
Friend, if you are a child of God, please understand the privilege and access we have. Our access to God, through Jesus Christ, is unlimited, unrestricted, unhindered. We can go to God anytime and anywhere.
And we can call Him our Father. That is an amazing fact, believer, that we can call God our Father. I’m sure you’ve heard someone say, “Daddy God” instead of saying Father. I never want to judge the intentions of hearts, but that phrase never sounds too reverent. It comes off as frivolous. And yet, at the same time, I understand why people say it: they are communicating the point that we are in a Father-Son relationship with God. We have access to Him as our Father. He loves us as much as He loves the Son. He has affection for us.
Christian, remember today that you are a child of God. Go to Him—constantly, repeatedly, without ceasing. And know that even when you fail, God, as your Father, is there to pick you up. Rest in Him.
