Work Heartily

Work Heartily

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” (Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬-‭24‬)

What do you do for work? Maybe you’re a banker, or perhaps you work in retail. Whatever it is, you can know that according to Scripture: you’re working to the Lord. You are serving the Lord.

I know you may be burnt out. I have felt that before. You may feel under appreciated by your boss, or perhaps you’re just completely miserable waking into work everyday. I understand that and have been there. But in those moments of frustration and agony of working a dead end job, remember this important fact: you’re serving the Lord. You’re ultimately working for Him.

I get it. You want to do something else. There’s nothing wrong with changing jobs when necessary or when it makes sense. But back in the day, I kept wanting to change jobs and kept applying elsewhere because I wanted to work a job to my skill set and wanted to get paid more.

I was discontent. And that discontent showed my distrust in what the Lord had for me at that moment. Sometimes God does just want you to work in a call center or sort through files. He places you where He places you for a reason. Don’t despise it. Work unto Him.
