Wait

Wait

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
‭‭(Psalm‬ ‭27‬:‭14‬ ‭ESV)

I am abysmal at waiting, and it’s because I’m naturally an impatient person. Not all of us are naturally impatient, but I’m sure none of us enjoy waiting. Waiting on the drive-thru order; waiting on test results to come back; waiting for that important phone call; waiting for that promotion.

Waiting on God.

Christian, God wants you to wait. And He knows it’s hard. He knows us. He understands it’s difficult for us to wait, as we tap our feet impatiently. But that’s what He desires for us to do. Sometimes He doesn’t make us wait, but more often than not, He does. We must “wait for the Lord, be strong and have courage.”

The most important part, however, is we must not attempt to wait on our own strength. We must rely on Him. Our call is to rely on His strength, His timing. Once we do that, we will be strong and have courage and . . . wait.

What are you waiting on right now? Whatever it is, please remember: God is never let. When He acts is when He planned to act. He’s never late nor is He early. God doesn’t work based on our preferred timing, but His. This means we may wait, and wait, and wait.

And wait.

Keep waiting. Keep praying. Continue seeking God’s face in the depth of your agony, in the midst of your waiting.

He will act soon enough.
