The Need for Truth

The Need for Truth

The church needs truth. In a day and age when there are many secular, anti-Christian ideas infiltrating the church, we need to stand all the more firm on the solid rock that is the Bible while holding fast to the unshakeable truths Christians have believed for over 2,000 years! We need truth, and that truth is Jesus ( John 14:6). We are at a pivotal moment in history. Christians are marginalized, persecuted, and demeaned for what they believe. Not a day goes by that Christians don’t have to take a strong stand for what they believe in.

As Christ’s ambassadors, we must witness faithfully to the reality of Christ’s perfect life, atoning death, and victorious resurrection! He lived a sinless life even though He was tempted in every respect as we are (Hebrews 4:15). In his death He atoned for all of the sins of His people as their substitute (2 Corinthians 5:21). He then rose victoriously on the third day for our justification (Romans 4:25). He crushed sin, Satan, and death in the process. Sin no longer has dominion over us because of Jesus (Romans 6:14). His death on the cross was the beginning of the end for Satan, the father of lies (Genesis 3:15; John 8:44).

Christians are who we are because of the finished work of Christ. It is our joy-filled duty to go into the world and show people their sin through the law and call them to repentance and faith, just as Jesus did (Mark 1:15). Make no mistake: we need truth. This God-given truth should not be forsaken for anything—not for the culture’s carnal desire, your friends, or even for your family (Luke 14:26). Eternity is at stake and the world needs Christ—just as we do!
