“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1)
How do we keep ourselves focused on living for Christ? What’s the key to living a consistent life of holiness, apart from our efforts and supposed strength? We do this by seeking things that are above—we keep our minds and hearts of the glories of Heaven.
It is when we glance away from the majesty of heaven that life becomes frustrating. We live as though we are independent, totally autonomous beings. Of course, that’s not true. We are completely dependent on the Lord for all of life. We must pray daily for help by the Spirit to keep our gaze fixated on the glories of heaven.
Friend, when we consistently keep our minds on glory, then everything falls into its rightful place. We have the heavenly perspective we ought to have. This doesn’t mean life becomes easy, but it becomes bearable, when tough, because we know glory awaits at the end of the day.
Keep your eyes on things that are above. Everything’s going to be okay.
